ITC V-Plan Stakeholder Tour

Attendance exceeded expectations
Positioned ITC as a leader

Crossroads has managed internal communications, public relations and website development for ITC, the largest independent electricity transmission company in the country, since 2004. Although ITC is mainly a B2B company, through Crossroads’ counsel the organization understands the importance of sharing ITC’s project milestones with stakeholders. ITC connects with landowners and community leaders throughout its business territories as part of the planning and execution for its transmission line projects, and the agency has managed this stakeholder engagement for numerous projects, including ITC’s V-Plan in western Kansas.

After a successful groundbreaking stakeholder event in November 2012 on the V-Plan, Crossroads counseled ITC to host another event for important influencers, including community leaders and state regulators, once the project was complete. In December 2014, Crossroads helped plan and execute another event of the same caliber to further educate and connect with the project’s stakeholders. The event would help ITC explain the significance of transmission not only in Kansas, but also the region, illustrate the importance of collaboration with, and investment in, the community to successfully complete
a project, celebrate the project coming to a close on time and under budget and position the company as a leader in the electric transmission space for local and state legislators and regulators.

The V-Plan Stakeholder Tour helped ITC stand out amongst other public utilities or competing transmission companies by showcasing ITC’s commitment to the community – by using local vendors – and vision of improving the electric transmission grid for a region-wide benefit. While the planning didn’t come without its challenges, the result was an event that was executed flawlessly and on time. The president of ITC’s Great Plains division was thrilled with the result and got overwhelming positive feedback from attendees. The images and video captured at the event were used in ITC’s external facing communications including a news release and community newsletters. With a goal of 25 attendees, expectations were exceeded with 35 stakeholders in attendance.
